Colored Fluids To Know About When Your European Car Leaks

If you own a BMW or a Saab, you might want to pay close attention to this. Cars may leak from time to time, but the question is: what color is the fluid leaking? We at Shelby Automotive have provided you with a list of different color fluids that you need to know about in the event of leaks happening.

The color will help you determine what type of fluid it is and what type of issue your vehicle might have. Once you have a good idea of where the leak is originating from, you can take it to our shop so our ASE certified mechanics can fix it quickly. It’s what we do as one of the best auto repair shops in Shelby, NC.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the different colors of fluid and which part of the vehicle might be in trouble:

Red/Pink

If the fluid is leaking red or pink, it might be related to your transmission or power steering. The leaks may originate from the power steering’s return line. Or it might be due to a malfunctioning transmission.

Our qualified mechanics near Cherryville, NC will make sure that your power steering line is repaired or replaced with new high-quality parts. They come with a 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. Compare that to some competitors, it knocks the socks off of the other warranties that expire without warning.

Light/Dark Brown

There are plenty of fluids that are different shades of brown. It’s easy to confuse motor oil with brake fluid. Keep in mind that motor oil is a lot thicker in viscosity compared to brake fluid.

If the color is a light brown, it may be linked to gear lubricant. Either way, if it’s leaking any shade of brown it would be a good idea to take it to Shelby Automotive so we make sure that we fix the leak and keep your vehicle running so you can go from point A to point B anytime, anywhere.

Blue/Green

If you notice a blue or green fluid leak, there’s a good chance that you may be losing anti-freeze or coolant. This will come from the water pump or the radiator. With a loss of anti-freeze or coolant, your engine may be susceptible to overheating.

Of course, an overheating engine can lead to your vehicle’s demise earlier than expected. The sooner you get this taken care of, the better off you’ll be. Look no further than your auto repair shop near Kings Mountain, NC.

Yellow/Orange

If you notice any leakage that are yellow or orange, there may be an issue with the radiator. There may be a problem with your O-Rings. You may also need to get your radiator or cooling system to be checked out.

There are different radiators and coolant fluids that come in various colors (depending on the vehicle model). Whether you drive a Mercedes or a Volvo, no model is immune to leaks. If there is a European car specialist that can fix these leaks quickly, Shelby Automotive gets the job done.
